VPI - Voluntary Preventive Intervention - Service to Humanity

The overall exercise is in two Phases.

PHASE ONE:

Information Technology Training of youths in each rural area to enable them collate the health data collation in their area. This also empowers the youths and gives them the feeling of belonging and relevance and important part of the tools in the growth of the country.

The first part of the exercise is usually a one-day I.T sensitization Training with youths of equal gender drawn from each senatorial districts in the state. The youths with exceptional aptitude for I.T will be chosen for a one-week intensive course in I.T. with specific attention to Health Data Collation to be used for the health screening exercise (Epidemiology).

PHASE TWO:

Health screening by Volunteer Doctors, Nurses Laboratory technicians from the state.
Screening for prevalent diseases in the area such as HIV, malaria, diabetes, anaemia, jaundice, high blood pressure etc.

This enables VPI to know:

FOLLOW-UP:

Continuity will be ensured by the local Government and the medical professionals in that area –doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, X-ray technicians and other stakeholders. Supervised by the state programs officer. Continuity is also ensured by using the Medical centers already in place by having the medical professionals in that area donate time e.g. a day in the month to run clinics in these centers.
Reports are forwarded to the zonal coordinator for onward submission to the headquarters in Abuja for necessary action, which will be routed the same way.

It is pertinent to note that VPI is also involved in other non-medical programs (As per Organogram)
